The Burns-Gambaro Medical Scholarship Fund

The Burns-Gambaro Medical Scholarship Fund was established by Theresa Gambaro on behalf of herself and her good friend Jacob “Ty” Burns. Both Theresa and Ty battled the same type of leukemia. More important, both held deep affiliations within the Latino community through their work.

The scholarship will be granted to one incoming first-year medical student of Latino heritage who meets a certain financial need criterion. The monies will be applied and managed by Theresa’s twin sister, Dr. Rachael Lucatorto, MD, at the UCSF School of Medicine.
